Nordic Women in Tech Awards winners announced at 2023 gala event

The Nordic Women in Tech Awards (#NWITA23) today announced the winners of its annual awards program, revealed during the annual gala event, hosted at Harpa Conference and Concert venue in Reykjavik, Iceland, on 9 November. Among the 260 guests in attendance were First Lady of Iceland, Eliza Reid, and Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Áslaug Arna Sigurbjörnsdóttir, who kicked off the event with two compelling and thought-provoking keynotes. Ambassadors and embassy representatives from all of the Nordic countries, as well as a press delegation accompanying our Presenting Partner, Business Iceland, were also present.

Annual Nordic Women in Tech Awards Announces National Finalists for Iceland

Nordic Women in Tech Awards (#NWITA) today announced the national finalists for each Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The annual awards program is dedicated to honouring women leaders and emerging leaders in technology across the Nordic countries, will host its gala event at the stunning Harpa Conference and Concert venue in Reykjavik, Iceland, on 9 November 2023. Overall winners for each of the 10 categories will be announced live at the gala event.

Time to take action on Innovation Week promises

Iceland Innovation Week just wrapped up and what a week it was! Full of events, meetings, pitches, and awards, it celebrated the best of Icelandic innovation. But any discussion on Iceland would not be complete without including gender. So, here are the stats: 5 of the 81 listed events specifically addressed the status of women in the innovation sector, an 83/81 female/male split of speakers at events, the majority of events had mixed male and female panels. The nature of these types of events mean that the leaders of the field are most likely to be speaking. So, it looks like there are quite a few women in positions of power and influence in innovation in Iceland: academics, top-level government officials, founders, c-suiters, and NGO leaders. Well done Iceland and the Iceland Innovation Week organizers.
