WomenTechIceland is proud to once again partner with RIKK— Institute for Gender, Equality and Difference, for a 4-event panel series on various hot-button issues relating to equality and inclusion. Next event is on 14 May during Iceland Innovation Week, and focuses on what works in DEIB.

 

PREVIOUS EVENTS

Taking place at Háskólatorg (HR 101, 4 Sæmundargata, 102 Reykjavík) at the University of Iceland, Women Tech Iceland and RIKK - Institute for Gender, Equality and Difference are excited to collaborate on a 4-part discussion series on diversity, equity, integration and belonging (DEIB) in the tech space in Iceland and beyond. Each panel will focus on a different aspect of DEIB.

The 3rd panel in the series taking place on 18 April will focus on DEIB Backlash. This event is sponsored by Marel.

The backlash against diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) initiatives is going strong around the world. Join our panelists to look closely at the backlash, why it is happening, and what you can do to combat it in your organizations.

Lilja App won the Grand Prize during the Women Innovators Incubator Pitch Night, while Marú Gott won the People’s Choice prize. The event marked the finale to a 1 year series of events in partnership with Huawei Iceland.

CBS Feminist Society Meetup

In April 2018, WomenTechIceland hosted the Copenhagen Business School’s Feminist Society at Dohop’s headquarters in Reykjavik. During this remarkable event WTI introduced CBS to some of the most prominent and prolific women-focused organizations from across Icelandic society. First Lady of Iceland, Eliza Reid, opened the event.

FKA International Women’s Day event

WomenTechIceland supported FKA’s annual International Women’s Day event on March 8, 2018, by hosting a photo booth during the event activities, documenting the many powerful and innovative women business executives, dignitaries and luminaries in Iceland. Forbes interviewed WomenTechIceland founder Paula Gould on What America Can Learn from Iceland About Gender Equality.

GDPR & Compliance event hosted by Arion Banki

WomenTechIceland partnered with Arion Banki to host a GDPR & Compliance event in January 2018, with speakers including Shara Terjung from Marel and Riaan Dreyer from Arion Banki.

Big Data meetup hosted by TEMPO

TEMPO partnered with WomenTechceland to hold a compelling discussion on Big Data and Data science in October 2017, featuring data scientist & WomenTechIceland co-founder Valenttina Griffin.

RANNÍS generously donated their team and conference space for WomenTechIcelnd’s first ever “May the 4th Be With You” meetup in 2017, an engaging event that shared the various grant opportunities available in Iceland for tech innovation projects.
